Sandeep Singh's Court appearance: 3 applications heard in Haryana Case

Legal Proceedings unfold as Sandeep Singh appears in Haryana Court, addresses 3 of 5 applications

Sandeep Singh, a former captain of the Indian hockey team and Haryana minister, appeared in court regarding a sexual harassment case filed by a junior athletics coach. The case, initiated by Chandigarh Police on December 31, 2022, involves five applications from the complainant, with three discussed in the recent court session. Singh, aged 37, relinquished his sports portfolio on January 1, 2023.

Court proceedings and allegations

The court addressed three applications during the hearing. The first involved a request for the Chandigarh Police to provide the complainant with the final report and all related documents. The defense argued that the complainant already possessed media copies and referred to legal precedents limiting the chargesheet distribution.

The second application sought to impose conditions on Singh, in line with the court's earlier directives during his anticipatory bail hearing. The defense contended that these conditions were already applied through the bail order.

The third application aimed to take action against individuals for revealing the complainant's name and defaming her. Singh's counsel argued that the complainant concealed her compromise with these individuals in a Panchkula court, accusing her of using the situation to pressure Singh.
